چکیده

A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a wireless network where a collection of mobile nodes may dynamically vary the topological structure. Multicast is an efficient method to implement the group communications. Mobile Ad-Hoc is a dynamic, multi-hop and autonomous networks composed by wireless mobile nodes. The mobility model represents the realistic behavior of each mobile node in the MANET. Routing Protocol for Ad-Hoc networks are typically evaluated using simulations. In this paper, we compare the performance of On-Demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP), Adaptive demand driven Multicast Routing Protocol (ADMR) With Robust Scalable Geographic Multicast Protocol (RSGM) under different mobility models such as Random Way Point Model, Manhattan Model and Random Drunken Model. Using these models, performance metrics such as Packet Delivery Ratio, End-to-End Delay and Control Overhead are evaluated. ODMRP dynamically builds the route and manages the group membership. In ADMR, Multicast routing state is dynamically established and maintained only for active groups and only in nodes located between multicast senders and receivers. ADMR detects the high mobility without the use of GPS or other positioning system. RSGM supports a zone-based scheme to efficiently handle the two-tier membership management, and takes advantage of the membership management structure to efficiently track the locations of all the group members without resorting to an external location server. The simulation result shows that the throughput of ADMR is higher than that of ODMR and RSGM at high mobility and RSGM is high at low mobility. End to end delay and control over head of RSGM is higher than

Impact of Mobility on the Performance of Multicast Routing Protocols in MANET

The advent of ubiquitous computing and the proliferation of portable computing devices have raised the importance of mobile ad-hoc network. A major challenge lies in adapting multicast communication into such environments where mobility and link failures are inevitable. The purpose of this paper is to study impact of mobility models in performance of multicast routing protocols in MANET. In thi...

Multicast ad hoc routing through mobility-aware Steiner tree meshes with consistency across different mobility models

We study the problem of reducing the data overhead of mesh-based multicast ad hoc routing protocols while maintaining high packet delivery ratios. Our proposed approach adaptively controls the redundancy added by the routing protocol to the minimal data overhead multicast mesh. We show that the problem of finding the minimal data overhead multicast mesh is NP-complete, and we offer a heuristic ...

Routing Protocols for Vehicular Adhoc Networks (VANETs): A Review

Routing in Vehicular Ad hoc Networks is a challenging task due to the unique characteristics of the network such as high mobility of nodes, dynamically changing topology and highly partitioned network. It is a challenge to ensure reliable, continuous and seamless communication in the presence of speeding vehicles. The performance of routing protocols depends on various internal factors such as ...

Multicast Routing Protocols in Manets

Sending multiple copies of packet to different nodes is called Multicasting. Wired and infrastructure-based wireless networks are supported by many multicast routing protocols. But, applying this concept in Mobile Ad hoc wireless networks (MANETs) is a big challenge. Problems in ad hoc networks are the scarcity of bandwidth, short lifetime of the nodes due to power constraints and dynamic topol...

A comparative Study on Multicast Routing Protocols for Mobile Ad- Hoc Networks

A MANET is a type of ad hoc network that can change locations and configure itself on the fly. Because MANETS are mobile, they use wireless connections to connect to various networks. A Mobile Adhoc Network (MANET) is composed of Mobile Nodes (MNs) without any infrastructure. MNs self-organize to form a network over radio links. In this environment, multicast routing protocols are faced with th...
